Penny Watson

Penny Watson

Penny is the chick in the Big Shots.   She’s also the chick in the Don Miller Orchestra sax section.    She sings in addition to playing saxophone, but she is definitely NOT a chick singer.

She met most of her musical cohorts while attending Cal State Long Beach.    After school she found a lot of work transcribing and copying music for bands, which eventually lead to a three year stint as the music coordinator for The Arsenio Hall Show.   Since 1994 she has been a freelance player and arranger.   Her playing can be heard currently on the CBS comedy Baby Bob.

Penny also leads her own band, and her original compositions follow the tradition of Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and the other singer/songwriters of that generation.    She can be seen occasionally at venues like The Roxy, The Gig, and The Coach House.   She released a jazz CD with fellow saxophonist Danny House entitled Housebroken in 1999, and a self titled CD of her original compositions in 2001.

Penny is also the wife of Steve Crum, and the mother of a daughter named Zoe.
